Care by age

Every stage, from first breath to high school.

What your child needs from a pediatrician changes as they grow. Here's a plain look at what we focus on at each stage — so you know what to expect before you ever walk in.

  • 0 – 1 year

    Newborn

Frequent well-baby visits to track weight, length, and head growth, support feeding (breast, bottle, or both), and answer the questions that come with a brand-new baby. Includes the first rounds of routine vaccines.

    Infant & toddler

Visits focus on early motor and language milestones, sleep and feeding transitions, safety as they start walking and climbing, and the toddler-stage immunizations on the recommended schedule.

    School-age

Vaccine schedule

Well-child visit checkpoints.

These are the standard well-child checkpoints where routine immunizations are typically given. We follow the CDC recommended immunization schedule. This is a general reference — your pediatrician will confirm exactly what's due at each visit.

Recommended well-child visit checkpoints following the CDC schedule
Visit age What this checkpoint typically covers
2 months First infant series — multiple routine vaccines plus growth and feeding check
4 months Second infant series and early-milestone review
6 months Third infant series; first flu vaccine eligibility begins
12 months One-year checkpoint — additional vaccines and developmental screening
15 – 18 months Booster doses and an 18-month developmental screen
4 – 6 years Pre-kindergarten boosters and school-entry clearance
11 – 12 years Adolescent vaccine series and early-teen checkup

Informational only — not medical advice. The complete, current CDC immunization schedule is the authoritative source, and your child's plan may differ based on their history.

Meet the pediatricians

The people your kids will actually know.

We keep our practice small on purpose so your family sees familiar faces visit after visit.

Board-certified pediatrician

Dr. Okafor has cared for San Diego families across every stage from the newborn nursery to the high-school sports physical. She believes the best pediatric care is unhurried — she would rather run a few minutes behind because she answered every question than rush a worried parent out the door. Her clinical interests include newborn feeding support and adolescent mental health.
